You may be supported by any individual(s) whom you chose to assist you before or after your operation. Before surgery, one person may be allowed to be with you in your bed and will stay with you after the surgery if you so desire. When a patient is an infant, he or she is sometimes followed to the hospital by two parents and/or guardians.
In order to avoid the dangers of aspirating gastric substance during the procedure, you refrain from eating and/or drinking before surgery. This is a very serious complication and you need to strictly abide by our advice. It has nothing to do with nausea and vomiting following the surgery and we just direct you to particular hours before surgery that you need to refrain from eating and/or drinking depending on medical guidelines.
